Counselling in Leighton Buzzard, Bedfordshire

I am an integrative counsellor and psychotherapist. I offer one-to-one counselling for clients aged 16 and over from a dedicated counselling space in Leighton Buzzard, Bedfordshire, serving clients in the surrounding areas of Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire and Hertfordshire. I also offer online and telephone counselling.

My practice is fundamentally grounded in the person-centred philosophy. Each person is the expert in their own experience, and I aim to offer a therapeutic space defined by acceptance, empathy and openness.

I also draw on psychodynamic thinking to understand how past experiences and unconscious patterns can continue to shape how life is felt and experienced in the present.

My Approach to Counselling

Sometimes counselling is sought because we want change and we imagine change as finally getting somewhere; becoming more like the person we think we should be. But what if we never get to that final place? What if there is only the ability to understand better who we are?

For me, counselling isn’t necessarily about reaching some final, perfected version of who we are. It is about creating space to understand our experiences and possibly even begin to accept them whilst continuing to live as we are. This can be an ongoing process as we identify what we would like to be different and allow change to unfold, while maintaining a sense of continuity and connection with who we are. “Self-change… seems to be gobbled up by the relatively seamless continuity of being oneself.” Philip M. Bromberg

Counselling can encourage change, which can be much less dramatic than we might expect. We may not always notice ourselves changing as it happens. Instead, life can gradually begin to feel different: we respond differently, understand ourselves with more compassion, or make different choices.

Experience Supporting Vulnerable Adults

Alongside a Postgraduate Diploma in Psychotherapy and Counselling (Level 7), I bring more than 20 years of experience in the public and charity sectors to my practice.  My time working in custodial settings, refugee resettlement, and witness support within the courts continues to shape how I connect with clients today.

Whether you are personally involved in the criminal justice process or supporting someone close to you, we can explore the emotional impact of your experiences. This includes pre-trial therapy for victim-survivors and witnesses of crime.
